CO-FOUNDER, CAP W
Barbara Dalton Russell co-founded Cap W Global in 2017 to advance the ability of promising early and mid-stage companies to succeed. She is an investor and board member in technology and tech-enabled companies, principally focused on the AI/ML, blockchain, clean tech, and workforce enhancement sectors, and with over 30 years of experience in private equity, investment banking, and capital markets.
Barbara provides strategic advice that maximizes the abilities of these companies to scale via targeted fundraising from strategic and best-of-breed venture sources. She works with mostly private companies’ management teams to assist them with business model assessment, messaging, strategic growth initiatives, and capital formation.
Prior to Cap W, Barbara was Managing Director of Investment Banking at Detwiler Fenton, a Boston-based i-Banking boutique focused on early/mid-stage companies. Before Detwiler, Ms. Russell was a co-founder of the Social Internet Fund, as well as several funds focused on private shares of social media companies. In 2002, Ms. Russell was one of the founders of Bold Cap, a woman-focused venture fund funded exclusively by women, including such luminaries as Kay Koplovitz (founder of Springboard), Heide Miller, and Barbara Cochran.
Barbara is a senior lecturer at Boston University. She received her MBA from the Sloan School at MIT and a BA in Economics from Boston University. She lives in Lexington, MA with her husband and has two children.
