Jen Benson is committed to public service and understands the power of progressive public policy. Before joining the Alliance for Business Leadership as President in 2020, Jen served for 11 years in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. She served as the House Chair of the Joint Committee on Health Care Financing, which considered all matters concerning the direct funding of health care policy and programs, including Medicaid and other public health programs. She also served as Chair and Vice-Chair of several committees including State Administration and Regulatory Oversight, Consumer Protection and Professional licensure, and Community Development and Small Business. She was a member of several caucuses, including:

  • Caucus of Women Legislators
  • Harm Reduction and Drug Law Reform Caucus
  • Clean Energy Caucus
  • Library Caucus
  • Special Education Caucus
  • Manufacturing Caucus
  • North Central Mass Caucus

Jen and her husband Brent Benson have been married since 1993. Brent works at the Harvard Business School as Technical Enterprise Architect for HBS Online. Jen and Brent have three adult children, Hannah, Maya, and Noah. Jen grew up in Rochester, NH, where she graduated from Spaulding High School. She went on to receive a BA in Art History from Florida Atlantic University and a Master of Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
