THE ALLIANCE FOR BUSINESS LEADERSHIP ANNOUNCES LEADERSHIP TRANSITION

After three years of service to ABL, Jen Benson stepping down as president to pursue new opportunity; ABL Board to begin search for new President

December 5, 2022

BOSTON, MA - The Alliance for Business Leadership (ABL) Board of Directors announced today that Jennifer Benson, President, will step down from the role after nearly three impactful years of service to pursue a new opportunity supporting Massachusetts’ growing clean energy industry. Benson will remain active as a member of the organization serving on the ABL Climate and Energy Council. The vacancy for president is effective December 9, 2022.

“The time has come to move on to a new challenge and I am excited about the opportunity to leverage my experience at ABL to continue working on my lifelong passion of protecting our environment and creating economic opportunity through renewable energy innovation, policy, and business development. I look forward to supporting ABL as they bring in a new generation of leadership in the Massachusetts business community and am proud to continue my involvement as a member of this impactful organization,” said Benson

Under Benson’s leadership, ABL convened business leaders from across the state to advocate for the passage of two major pieces of climate change legislation at the State House including the Offshore Wind and Clean Energy Act, worked with the City of Boston’s Affordable Housing Taskforce to prioritize and grow the city’s affordable housing stock, and led a cross-sector delegation of 30 business, non-profit, government, and academic leaders to Denmark to learn about renewable energy production, creating inspiration and thought leadership for Massachusetts’ burgeoning wind energy industry. Benson also chaired the Transportation for Massachusetts (T4MA) coalition advancing statewide transportation policy changes.

“We are grateful for the legacy Jen will leave behind at ABL. We were fortunate to bring her on board in January of 2020, only months before the pandemic changed our world. She led with strength during a period of significant challenges and through her stewardship she has built a resilient organization poised for growth. Jen deepened ABL’s leadership on the critical policy issues facing the Commonwealth, built a strong team, materially increased our membership and greatly expanded the reach of our overall impact. When Jen talks about prioritizing equity and social responsibility through businesses across the state- she means it. We wish Jen the absolute best in her next career chapter and know we will continue to work closely together going forward,” said ABL Board Chair JC Morales.

The ABL Board will immediately commence a search to identify a new president with more details to be posted publicly in the near future. As an active search for a new president is conducted, those with any questions for the organization can contact Vice President Josselyn De León-Estrada at Josselyn@ablimpact.org
